The Job
Role Summary/Purpose:
To be part of the Installation Department of Offshore Wind. The department is responsible to define the offshore installation strategy of the wind turbine components and provides the methods, all the transport and installation tools and the manpower for Offshore Wind projects.
The installation department is responsible for all offshore activities from load-out on installation vessel up to completion of mechanical and electrical operations.
Mobilized on different projects the Deputy Offshore Construction Manager will play a strategic role to follow the turbine installation scope offshore, assist the Installation Engineering team with documentation (RAMS, Lift Plans), and interface with the installation vessel contractor.
As DOCM – Deputy Offshore Construction Manager, you will be supporting the Offshore Construction Manager in the offshore project execution. You will support with the managing of the installation teams, regarding their roles and responsibilities. You will be responsible for the safe implementation and completion of the WTG installation operations within the terms of the local legislation and based on the company rules and procedures.

During offshore works:
Reporting to the OCM (Offshore Construction Manager), the Deputy offshore construction manager is to support the OCM during the construction operations on the wind turbine installation vessel, keeping the project running safely and hitting critical milestones on time
Supervise wind turbine assembly activities on daily basis, typically nightshift
The DOCM will be on a 12hr night shift 2/2 weeks rotation – subject to vessel operations and at the discretion of the OCM.
As DOCM you will be also part of the wider vessel management and installation team, a key person working in close collaboration with the lifting supervisor, reporting all non-conformities, and preparing the DPR readiness for the OCM.
Help improving procedures, supporting updating, and writing work procedures.
You are to ensure the offshore construction operations are kept on the critical path, ensuring optimal time frames are kept, with the safe execution of the offshore construction work scopes.
Any deviations or issues taking the vessel operations from the critical path that you foresee, the DOCM would give guidance to any parties to minimalize the negative impacts, reporting accordingly to the OCM.
Assist OCM with coordination of the works of the WTG technicians to ensure contractually agreed installation performance
Anticipate any roadblock the installation sequence may face and organize support from back office and project team
Interface between management and the Clients & Vessel crew on the WIV
Review and assist OCM with Daily Progress report of activities
Supporting the lifting supervisor in the coordination of the Permit to works, and widespread support throughout the working shift
Promote EHS culture during operations, empowering the teams to speak up freely of any issues
Qualifications/Requirements
Professional education in construction or extensive knowledge in the offshore wind turbine construction industry is mandatory.
10 years offshore experience
NEBOSH General certification or equivalent (IOSH)
FUET or BOSIT – mandatory
GWO Working & Rescue @ Height – mandatory
GWO – 5 basic elements – mandatory
Industry Medical – mandatory
Eligibility Requirements
Proven history in the Offshore WTG construction with at least 10 years of experience in offshore wind construction, in a leading position.
Experience in (offshore wind) the DOCM is to have at least 5 years in experience in a managerial or or client rep position
Good knowledge in communication skills to share knowledge about installation method statements
Good understanding of CDM (Construction design management)
Fluent in English both spoken and written
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
Leadership and commitment and good representation on behalf of us
