Financial Controller / Financial Director Designate – The Expanded Metal Company – Hartlepool

The Expanded Metal Company

Ready to expand your horizons?

You’re an ambitious, qualified accountant, looking for that route to become financial director.

But you’re not getting the development you need and there is no clear progression.

If you’re thinking “that’s me”, then this role as financial controller for The Expanded Metal Company is for you.

This role has come about due to the current Financial Controller leaving and the planned retirement of the Financial Director.

So, working closely with the FD, you’ll learn the company and industry, developing your skills as a finance leader.

Then in six to nine months’ time, when you have proved yourself, you’ll step into their shoes and lead the finance function.

At both levels, you’ll receive an annual incentive scheme based on reaching performance objectives.

And at FD level, you’ll receive private medical insurance and a car allowance.

You’ll get 26 days of holiday, plus bank holidays, and you’ll be able to start your weekends sooner with a 1 pm finish on a Friday.

About the company

The Expanded Metal Company is a leader in the development and manufacture of expanded metal mesh products.

From construction materials and architectural mesh to filters, grilles, and security fencing, they provide expanded metal solutions to a broad range of industries and companies in the UK and European markets.

With an 80% share of the UK market for mesh products, Expanded Metal are now working on exciting marketing and capital investment projects which will allow them to benefit from new product development and growth opportunities in the European market.

What you’ll do and what you’ll need

You’ll manage the current finance team so previous experience is necessary, and you’ll also mentor and develop the current Finance Assistant so they are able to step up as Financial Controller in due course.

Acting as a strategic partner to fellow senior managers and directors, you’ll prepare and present financial reports for key stakeholders, and lead the financial planning and budgeting process across the business.

You will represent the company to external parties such as investors, bankers, auditors, insurers, and legal/tax advisers.

You’ll be a qualified accountant with experience in the manufacturing industry.

And you’ll be comfortable in a down-to-earth environment, working from offices on the manufacturing site.

Most importantly, you’re someone who understands the importance of developing your skills and experience to reach your goals, you’re ambitious and take initiative.
