Role Overview and Responsibilities

Purpose of Role


This is an internally facing role, involving playing an integral part in the transformation of the business, employee relations and working at an operational level whilst driving business initiatives. In addition, it is to develop a strategic approach to human resource development and management to ensure the effective implementation of the HR strategy & operational plans.


It will be your role to provide support and guidance on all HR matters relating to the Hartlepool and Eastleigh manufacturing sites.


You will develop effective working relationships with MD’s/GM’s and the Senior Leadership Teams to enable a first-class HR service to be delivered on site.


Areas of Responsibility

The HRM role is the business partner to the site GM and their leadership team providing guidance, inputting, and executing the site strategy from a people perspective. The role works closely with the divisional HR VP to apply division and group-wide mandates/programmes.


Responsibilities for the role covers: (a) Recruitment and Selection; (b) Performance/Talent/L&D Management; (c) Employee Relations; (d) Communication, engagement and change management; (e) Compliance


Recruitment and Selection

Ensure the delivery of site HR programmes and initiatives
Provide Support to other HR colleagues within the organisation as determined by the HRVP.
Responsible for coordinating the payroll process with Finance.
Organise and manage all aspects of family friendly processes including maternity, paternity, adoption, parental and unpaid leave and flexible working
Conduct employee inductions for all new starters

Performance/Talent Management/L&D

Provide leadership on the implementation of the Group-wide talent management approach and ensure appropriate plans are developed and implemented.
Provide guidance to line managers to ensure all employees receive a quality Performance Development Review.
Identify training requirements and incorporate into the training plan and budget
Support the HRVP with organising the annual performance process, talent calibration reviews and rollout of Management Standards

Employee Relations

Manage employee relations on site through appropriate body i.e. employee forum or works council
Support Line Manager and Senior HRVP will all Employee relation issues to resolve all matters within the legal framework and desired timescales

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
Communication, Engagement and change management

Support the site GM and leadership team with transformation programmes and associated communication and engagement activities.
Works with the site GM, site leadership team and site line managers to develop and embed a culture that reflects TT’s values.
Manages HR relationships with third parties
Lead discussion with Works Council
Manage relationship with line managers and employees to ensure sites are fully engaged


Monitors compliance with all key HR policies and processes
Compliance for all temporary workers on sites under their responsibility
Keeps abreast of changes in HR and employment legislation
Ensure the company meets its H&S requirements and help to drive health & safety throughout the company
Monitor and advise on absence management

Key Relationships

From a site perspective: GM, leadership team, line managers

From a divisional perspective: HR VP

From a functional perspective: Wider HR community (UK and global)


Person Specification


Qualifications or equivalent experience

CIPD qualified to Level 5
5+ years’ experience in a human resources managerial position
Bachelor’ Degree in Human Resources or related business field

Skills, knowledge, and behaviours

Comprehensive understanding of employment laws
Exceptional interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills
Strong business acumen
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to coach and mentor management and employees.
Results-focused and committed to achieving goals
