Cambian Hartlepool School is an independent, DfE-registered, co-educational day school, providing specialist education for up to 18 students, aged 11-17 years.
Hartlepool School and vocational centre exists in order to provide academic and learning opportunities for students who have previously struggled in mainstream schools. Students placed here will normally have recognised social, emotional and behavioural attributes. The School provides a nurturing environment that is set up to meet the individual needs of these students.
Pupils who attend Hartlepool School follow the National Curriculum and we also have facilities to offer an alternative curriculum designed to meet the individual needs of our young people should this be appropriate.

Job Description
The Tutor needs to work as part of a team and is expected to work effectively and collaboratively with all colleagues in delivering learning support to the students.
The successful candidate will be accountable for ensuring that the Curriculum is effectively delivered to their students and will have an active role in delivering effective learning and should demonstrate this through timely and effective recording and reporting. This involves contributing to individual plans and paperwork used to support our work with students in a way that is fair and respectful. It also helps the college to show that it is compliant with regulatory, contractual and internal requirements.
The Tutor has an important role to play in supporting students to achieve the things that matter to them. This means helping students to make choices and decisions and exploring and accessing opportunities that help them learn and develop a lifestyle that is meaningful and rewarding.
The ideal candidate will:
Deliver high quality teaching, learning and assessment to underpin high levels of achievement for all learners
Ensure equality of treatment for all students by using effectively differentiated resources and strategies
Keep abreast of teaching developments and initiatives relating to their teaching specialism’s
Strive for outstanding results i.e. learner outcomes and teaching observations and directs learning support effectively during sessions
Formulate, track and evaluate session plans and schemes of work
Completes reports demonstrating student progress and achievement
Update Support Plans, Risk assessments and Tutorials encouraging learner involvement through the promotion of learner voice
Clearly report any concerns or issues both within the team and the relevant external bodies i.e. Estyn CSSIW, Safeguarding, Local Authority
Experience required:
Experience of working with and teaching learners with learning difficulties/disabilities and/or challenging behaviour
Recent and relevant experience of the education and care service delivery requirements of people with a learning disability
Appreciation of the ESTYN and CIW inspection regimes
Delivering teaching activity within a 24-hour (extended) curriculum model
Experience of teaching a person-centred curriculum in new and innovative ways
The ideal Candidate must have recognised teaching qualification and experience.
